Scraps of Paper

I got to see the YO! Home demonstration at 100% Design. Whether or not the concept takes off right away, I think it’s inevitable that a solution like this will become necessary as urban areas grow more dense.

Pop Up YO! Home Prototype

YO! Home may not look like your average home on the outside, but when you really start digging around for the essentials– things tend to look a little different. This small apartment space is all that and more, with some surprises squeezed in between. Twelve moving parts drawing on the mechanics of stage scenery allow the transformation of an 861 square foot space to become a much larger, more integral home.

Simon Woodroffe, the founder of YO!, has explained his vision behind this prototypical home as something that can help shaped our lives better and within a smaller footprint while still giving the maximum space.
