After Christmas: Photos of Discarded Christmas Trees with the Lights Still On (via)

Hungerian photographer Gergo Gosztom has been working on a new series of urban landscapes using the lights from discarded Christmas trees to create haunting nightime photograph. The series titled “After Christmas” is a commentary on gross consumerism and the wastefulness of disposable seasonal decorations. Speaking about the project Gergo says, “I’ve always hated the Christmas tree. It’s an unnecessary thing. We always throw them away.”

I love everything about this photoset. Something about the idea of discarded magic…

Currently a faint speck in the night sky, Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) was only recently discovered. But as it emerges from the haze of the distant Oort Cloud and makes a close pass around our sun late next year, it could turn into the brightest comet anyone alive has ever seen, reports Sky & Telescope. During its closest approach to the Earth, in the weeks leading up to Christmas 2013, it could even be as bright as the full moon.
Mark your calendar for Christmas 2013…the most amazing comet, possibly as bright as a full moon is scheduled to pass by.
