Here’s what I love about this…there’s a ton of filtered softened natural light, that and I love the way the counter was made luminous. 
One side bar, you can see the light at the counter is much warmer than the cool daylight filtering in, that it OK. I think most efforts to match daylight with cooler artificial light end up feeling harsh. Let the eyes adjust.

Dear Ginza Building by Amano Design Office (via contemporist)

So I think there are two design features here to take note of…

  1. The way natural light is filtered through the “skin” of the building. That isn’t an after thought, it’s inherent to the design and beauty of the building. 
  2. The lighted forms within the building itself.
